Introduction to Darmstadt, Germany
Formerly the capital of Germany's Grand Duchy of Hesse, the city of Darmstadt can be found just to the south of Frankfurt. This weird and wonderful city is famous for its Art Nouveau buildings, which are known locally as Jugendstil. The most famous and arguably the most interesting of these buildings can be found in the Kunstlerkolonie Mathildenhohe district, which also boasts an art museum and a small park. Built in the 13th century, Castle Frankenstein is a commanding sight, and visitors who walk along the battlements will be treated to enchanting views all the way across the city. Other attractions not to miss include Park Rosenhoehe and the railway museum known as Eisenbahnmuseum Darmstadt-Kranichstein. The easiest way to get here is by touching down at Frankfurt Airport, and most of the leading Darmstadt hotels offer their guests free transfers to and from the airport as well as a wide range of other optional services. other spellings: darmstadthotels, darmtadt otel, darmtat hotell, dermstat hote, dermstat hotes
