Introduction to Brehna, Germany
The municipality of Brehna has recently been incorporated as a district of Sandersdorf. Located in Saxony-Anhalt, the municipality has a spa which people visit to help with medical afflictions they are suffering from. Brehna hotels therefore cater mostly to spa-goers, and are located a short distance away from the naturally warm waters. Katharina von Bora, the wife of Martin Luther, the German reformer of the Catholic Church, lived in the region, and her presence permeates throughout Brehna. The Town Hall has been converted from the monastery where she once stayed, and there is a monument dedicated to her memory. A short distance outside of Brehna is a series of lakes which make for a pleasant day out. It is possible to walk around the lakes while taking in the scenery or you can see the town from the water when practicing water sports. The traditional city of Halle is close by, where there is more in the way of sightseeing, not least a castle which sits close to the Salle River.
