Introduction to Berlin - Tegel Airport
Berlin’s Tegel Airport is the international air hub serving the city. Scheduled to close, it will be replaced by the brand new Berlin Brandenburg Airport. At present, 15 million passengers a year use the facility, with its uniquely designed hexagonal terminal arranged to make walking times between deplaning and exiting as short as possible. Both Lufthansa and budget airline Germania have bases here. The complex provides comprehensive traveller facilities as well as international flights by a number of European and American carriers. Two extra terminals, having opened when the main building exceeded its capacity, deal with Air Berlin and other low-cost flights. Car hire and all standard services are offered, and Tegel Airport hotels are located close to the complex, with others short drives away and offering free shuttles to and from the terminal.
