Introduction to Berlin - Lichtenberg
Even though the Lichtenberg township is a modern amalgamation of numerous districts in the eastern part of Germany’s capital city, it is also a historical town in itself. In comparison to the centre of Berlin, which is situated just six kilometres from the town, the settlement receives few tourists. However, visitors will still be able to find several important attractions and a number of Lichtenberg hotels to choose from. Tierpark Berlin, not only the most impressive attraction in the township but also one of the top zoological attractions in the capital, is located within the district. The former Soviet Military Administration building is now the German-Russian Museum, housing plenty of displays covering relations between the two nations. Finally, there is the Stasi Museum, which is a memorial site of the former Soviet prison that gained notoriety during its operation.
