Ten miles to the east of Kellerwald-Edersee National Park lies the small town of Bad Wildungen, which has a state-run medicinal spa. Despite its small size, the town offers plenty of things to see and do besides using the spa. It has a number of well-maintained museums which detail agricultural, hunting and regional history, including the Heimatmuseum. Culture is thriving in Bad Wildungen thanks to the town's theatre and castle, both of which regularly hold music concerts or theatre productions. Every July, the stone Schloss Friedrichstein plays host to the Folk Festival, attracting fans of the genre from all over the globe. The town has the largest spa park in Europe, a space the size of 50 hectares. Bad Wildungen hotels have mostly been converted from old buildings, and they offer guests a traditional experience of the region. Outside of the town, the national park offers stunning cycling on its bike trails.
