Introduction to Bad Oeynhausen, Germany
Best known today for its health treatment facilities, Bad Oeynhausen was once referred to unofficially as a 'museum for the architecture of the 19th century'. It gained this nickname after numerous members of the bourgeoisie built ostentatious homes here around the spa town's thermal salt spring. Today these waters still provide relief to patients with various health afflictions. Located in North Rhine-Westphalia on the banks for the River Weser, the town has a handful of tourist attractions to complement its collection of spas, health facilities and hotels in Bad Oeynhausen. Jordan Sprudel is one such attraction, a 40m high fountain of thermal carbonated saltwater. This water source was discovered around 1845 after King Frederick II of Prussia initiated the construction of a saline baths following reports by a farmer that his pigs had a salty crust on their backs after bathing in the local mud. Since the discovery of the therapeutic waters, visitors have continually sought relief for various conditions in the spas here. other spellings: bad oeynhausenhotels, bad oenhausen otel, hotellin oeynhusen, bad enhausen hotes
