Introduction to Bad Herrenalb, Germany
Bad Herrenalb is a pretty town located in Germany's Black Forest region. As such, it is a popular base with hikers following trails in the surrounding areas. However, Bad Herrenalb is also a spa town whose water is an attraction in itself. In addition, there are a number of historical attractions, such as churches, monasteries and other ruined buildings. Guests can sample the town's healing water for free at the fountain near the Kurhaus. The Kurhaus building itself is also a good spot for lunch or tea on the large outdoor terrace. Guests who would prefer to swim in the famous waters should visit the Siebentalertherme thermal spa. As well as swimming, this complex offers saunas, steam baths and massage. The most important historical attractions are the monastery and Protestant church. Established in the 12th century, the monastery was the precursor to the development of the town which stands today. The church which currently stands here was built in the 18th century, but still incorporates some aspects of the previous construction. Travellers can reach Bad Herrenalb hotels by taking an S1 tram from Karlsruhe, as Deutsche Bahn trains no longer serve the town.
