See a cabaret show at Moulin Rouge: Moulin Rouge, located in the red-light district area of Pigalle, is famous the world over for its traditional cabaret and imitation windmill on the roof. Moulin Rouge has a history of over 100 years offering glitzy and glamorous musical shows to guests from around the world.
The shows received a further wave of publicity with the recent movie which was nominated for an Oscar. Over the years performers here have included Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf, and Josephine Baker, among others.
Enjoy the view from the Eiffel Tower: high on most people lists of priorities in Paris is to take the lift to the top of the Eiffel Tower, the most recognised structure in the city. There are two restaurants on the way up and the views from the top across the city are quite stunning on a clear day.
Visit Les Catacombs: the Catacombs of Paris are a remarkable burial place beneath the city. They consist of a number of underground tunnels in what were once Roman limestone quarries which were converted into a vast tome towards the end of the 18th century. Only certain areas are open to the public and it is easy to get lost in this confusing network; going with an experienced guide is strongly advised.
