Nightlife in Paris
The north eastern area of Paris contains some of the most famous nightspots, especially around Canal St-Martin, Belleville, and Menilmontant. The city has a good club scene and some of the most popular venues include Batofar, The Pulp, and Le Rex, owned by the world renowned DJ Laurent Garnier.
Glamorous Parisians tend to head for the area around the Champs-Elysees, where prices make it out of most people’s reach. For something a little less pricey and more down to earth, head for the Rive Gauche, where student bars and jazz clubs dominate.
Paris has a good theatre and music scene and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy some live performances while you are here. There two most famous opera venues are Opera Garnier and Opera Bastille, which both offer a mix of classical and contemporary ballet as well as opera. Theatre has always held an important place in Parisian culture and continues to thrive here with major venues including Bobino, Theatre de la Gaite-Montparnasse and Mogador.
Paris’s theatres also host musical events with international and national stars often performing. The Zenith and the parc-omnisports stadium in Bercy tend to stage big events, and for jazz concerts head for the New Morning.
