Football: is hugely popular in France and Paris is no exception. The biggest club in the city is Paris Saint-Germain who play their home matches in the Parc des Princes. The club have a big rivalry with Olympique Marseille.
Rugby: is another very popular sport in the city, with both club and international games played regularly during the season. Stade Francais are one of the most successful rugby clubs in France and play their games at both Stade Jean-Bouin, and Stade de France. The Stade de France was opened to host the 1998 football world cup and will also host games in the Rugby World Cup in 2007.
Spectator sport: tennis is popular and the city welcomes the world’s finest tennis stars to compete at the prestigious Roland Garros Championships (also known as the French Open). For a truly French experience, the game of boules is played in many parks and gardens around the city, and it can be pleasant just to sit and observe locals playing this quintessentially French game.
