The seafront is one of the town's main attractions and has a busy Promenade, lined with delightful Belle Epoque hotels. Although there are several beaches, they are not ideal for bathing due to their rocky and gravely nature.
Cimiez Convent (Monastere de Cimiez): this is one of the most prominent buildings in Nice and contains some fine 15th century works of art by the famous local artists, the Brea brothers. Other highlights include the 17th century frescoes, the carved and gilded wooden main altarpiece and the 17th century chapel. The convent gardens offer some wonderful views of the city and the bay.
Nice Castle: is set in a park with harbour views. The ruins may not be that interesting but visitors can climb the stairs to a viewing platform 300 feet above for some great views.
The Palais Lascaris: was built in the 17th century and was once owned by the rich Lascaris-Vintimille family. It was renovated in the 1940s and tastefully re-decorated. The palace contains some valuable ornaments and other historical pieces.
