Football: has a passionate following in Marseille and you'll need to book tickets in advance if you want to watch the local team, Olympique Marseille. The team plays in the magnificent Stade Velodrome and they are the only French club to have one the Champions League Trophy back in 1993.
Boule: is one of the oldest games associated with Marseille and it can be found in nearly every district around the city, particularly at Place aux Huiles. Even if you don't want to participate, it's worth watching the locals enjoy a game in one of the central market squares.
