By air: Nice’s Cote d’Azur Airport (NCE) is located seven miles west of Nice and is just 15 miles from Cannes. This is a busy airport with flights arriving from Paris, other major French cities and a number of European and international destinations. Ground transfer options include efficient and reasonably-priced train and bus services, as well as considerably more expensive taxi services.
By train: France’s TGV rail service connects Cannes with major French cities. From London’s Waterloo Station, the Eurostar provides services to Lille, where you’ll find a connecting service to Cannes. The trip from London to Lille takes 1 hour, 25 minutes; while the connection from Lille to Cannes takes seven hours. Other cities in Europe with rail services to Cannes include Basel (10 hours), Brussels (6 hours), Milan (5 hours), Rome (10 hours) and Venice (10 hours).
By car: driving from Paris takes approximately eight hours via the A8 Esterel motorway, connecting directly to the city of Cannes; from Monaco and Nice. The network of roads is well-designed and maintained and drivers should have no problems negotiating the route.
By ferry: service is available to the Port of Nice from Bastia and Calvi in Corsica, on SNCM Ferryterranee and Corsica Ferries. The journey from Bastia takes 4 hours, 45 minutes on conventional ferries and 3 hours, 40 minutes on express ferries. From Calvi, the journey takes 3 hours, 45 minutes on conventional vessels and 2 hours, 45 minutes by express. Four ferries each day typically sail these routes, with a greater number of crossings during the summer season.
