Restaurants do open earlier however, while you will be able to get a reservation before 20:00, you might also find that you’ll be eating in an empty establishment. Restaurants are invariably open late and it’s not unusual for diners to be enjoying a final wine after 23:00. Restaurants can be found everywhere in Cannes and range from pizzerias to Tex-Mex and Michelin-star establishments.
Many of the city’s seafood eateries are located on Quai St Pierre, along the west side of the port, and on rue Felix Faure. Terrace cafe-restaurants are found in abundance along La Croisette, where there’s the added treat of spotting celebrities and watching some fabulously expensive cars cruise by. The narrow rue Saint Antoine boasts a number of cosy eateries.
Meat dishes also feature on some of the best menus in town, and include such local specialties as estouffade de sanglier (wild boar) and filet de boeuf Rossini (fillet of beef with foie gras). There is a wide array of quality French dishes available in Cannes, in both upscale and smaller, more traditional venues. Prices for each meal vary incredibly, relying on where you go, but mid-priced eateries are comparable to those in the UK.
