By air: Marseille Provence Airport, 80kms from Avignon, receives both domestic and international flights from European destinations such Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, London, Milan, Munich and Paris. The airport’s facilities include banks, a post office, ATMs, bureaux de change, bars, cafes, restaurants and shops as well as a well-equipped business centre. Shuttle buses and taxis offer services to various destinations in the region.
By rail: those travelling from Paris can hop on a TGV train to Avignon Station, located within a short distance from the city centre. Buses are available from the station to take you to the city.
By car: if you drive from Italy, cities in the north such as Paris, Marseilles and Lyon or from the south of the country, take the A9 to Avignon. Driving into Avignon is easy, thanks to the excellent road network. It takes about one hour from Marseille and six hours from Paris.
By taxi: taxis can be quite expensive in France. The majority are operated by Taxi Radio Avignonnais. You can easily flag down a taxi anywhere in the city or call to book in advance at +3349 082 2020. There are a plenty of taxi ranks in the city and main stations.
