Introduction to Tourcoing, France
The city of Tourcoing is found in the northern region of France, within the department of Nord. It is just to the north of the French town of Roubaix, to the northwest of Lille, and to the west of the Belgian city of Mouscron. The city actually rests upon the French-Belgian border. The A22 autoroute is the largest highway in the area, but most tourists tend to make their way to the city by train, which links some of the major towns of France to Tourcoing. Tourcoing hotels are available in abundance, and some are extremely beautiful, boasting historical facades and structures. There are a number of sights that are scattered throughout the centre of town. The Church of St Christopher is a stunning neo-Gothic structure that was built between the 15th and 16th centuries. Another landmark is the Hospice de Havre, which was established in 1260. The Napoleon style Hotel de Ville is the 1880s town hall, which has today become a popular tourist sight. For a more relaxing landmark, nothing beats the botanical garden and arboretum of the city.
