Thones is a small township located within the beautiful Rhones-Alpes region of France, in the southeastern alpine region of the country. Visitors should be able to find Thones hotels upon arrival as the town is a popular ski resort area which welcomes visitors all year round. It is part of the Haute-Savoie department and is home to about 6,000 people, making it a busy residential town in comparison to other resort towns of the region. The town is situated at the junction of two small highways, the D909 and the D12. Bois de Mont forest is located about two kilometres to the east of town, and there is another mountainous area found just to the north. Skiing is an important tourist feature for the town along with mountain climbing, hiking and mountain biking in the summer time.
