The town of Sainte Mere Eglise is located in the lower region of Normandy, in the far northwestern pocket of France. Even though the town only contains a population of about 1,500 people, it boasts a beautiful landscape and some stunning attractions worth visiting. It was one of the most important areas during the historically significant battles which followed the D-Day landings during WWII, and it therefore has numerous landmarks that commemorate the town's role in the war. There are a number of museums found in the commune, including the Airborne Museum, which provides details about the invasion of Normandy. Several Sainte Mere Eglise hotels are found in the centre of town, just a stone's throw away from the main landmarks of the town. Another of the major attractions in Sainte Mere Eglise is the local church, which boasts a beautiful bell tower and a parachute statue to commemorate the paratroopers of WWII. The town sits within the lovely Marais du Cotentin et du Bessin Regional Nature Park.
