Introduction to Saint Nazaire, France
St Nazaire hotels are almost invariably found by the water side but this shouldn’ t come as any surprise considering the town’s status as one of France’s most important ports and sea side locations. The town of St Nazaire has held maritime strategic importance since Roman days and continued to be of extreme importance during the first and second world wars. St Nazaire hotels run the full range of budgets from small family run bed and breakfasts to larger, more opulent four-star hotels. There isn't a particularly extensive range of five-star hotels in St Nazaire, however and most travellers prefer staying somewhere a little more rustic and in this respect they are spoiled for choice. At the opposite end of town to the sea front and piers, St Nazaire backs onto the second largest swamp in France.
