The medium sized town of Saint Loup Lamaire is a settlement within the Deux-Sevres department of western France. The town has only been in existence since 1974, when the two towns of Saint Loup Sur Thouet and Lamaire were merged into the current single town. The town is a beautiful commune that sits upon the quaint little River Thouet. There are a number of attractions worth visiting in the town. Saint Loup Lamaire hotels are conveniently located in the middle of the town, making it easy for visitors to walk from their rooms to local attractions. The most visited site in the town is Saint Loup sur Thouet Castle, which is situated in the southwestern corner of the commune, overlooking the meander of the Thouet River. Just to the north of the castle is a large park that extends for most of Saint Loup Lamaire's western border with the river. This is a great place to explore, rest with the family or take a quiet afternoon stroll.
