A thriving student town with excellent bars and a happening nightlife, Rennes is a smaller French destination that is very popular with summer tourists. Rennes hotels are clustered in the area north of the main railway station, but this shouldn’t stop more intrepid travellers seeking out accommodations elsewhere in town. The youth hostel near the river is an excellent budget choice that is surprisingly clean and modern – it’s the pick of Rennes hotels for many regular visitors. More mid-range options offer handy access to the weekend markets however some of these Rennes hotels don’t offer much protection from the boisterous night crowds and bar hoppers that fill the main streets around the central town square, seven nights a week until all hours. The surrounding countryside offers all kinds of outdoor activities and sports, and a huge campsite is very popular with families on holiday and it too has its own ice skating rink and go kart track.
