The ever-popular tourist mecca of Quimper hangs on the banks of the Odets River, in north-western France. A major trade and architectural centre of Brittany, Quimper draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year wanting to see its distinctive architecture which includes the imposing Quimper Cathedral and sample its three famous local products: crepes, cider and pottery. Quimper hotels run from five-star establishments to mid-range places of no real note all along the river. Your best bet may be the Quimper hotels at the cheaper end of the scale, as these enjoy quieter positions just away from the hustle and bustle of the riverside and also offer unique atmosphere as they are often un-renovated (but comfortable) and family-run.
