Introduction to Plancoet, France
On France's northwest coast in Brittany, Plancoet lies just inland from the Emerald Coast in Cote-d'Amor. The city is typical of Breton towns, filled with luxurious shops and a leather goods factory. Beautiful architecture dating back to the 17th and 18th centuries are scattered between a plethora of parks, gardens and Plancoet hotels. The region was the childhood home of Chateaubriand, the father of French Romanticism, and boasts many museums and estates bearing his influence or former presence. The author grew up at Chateau de Combourg and went to school in nearby Dinan, a majestic city of art and history that extends over the Rance Valley. The old timber-framed houses that line the narrow city streets date back to medieval times, with many shops maintaining a medieval flair inside. The Gothic church and Romanesque basilica are two important sites, and Chateau de Dinan and Jacobins Theatre are not to be missed. The steep Rue Jerzual connects the city to its port at the foot of the hill that opens to the English Channel.other spellings: plancoethotels, plancoet otel, plancoet hotell, planceot hote, plancoet hotes
