Introduction to Perpignan - City Centre
Situated just 30kms from the Pyrenees, 27kms from the border with Spain, and a couple of kilometres from the shores of the Mediterranean, the French city of Perpignan makes an ideal base for a visit to the stunning and historic area known as Northern Catalonia. Artist Salvador Dali once described Perpignan’s train station as 'the centre of the world’. Hotels in Perpignan city centre tend to be brightly coloured, intimate, and include outdoor terraces with lovely views of the flower-lined streets of La Basse. Dominating the centre is the lovely St Jean Cathedral, which took nearly 200 years to complete, and the castle, last added to in the 17th century but dating as far back as the 13th century. There is a small aviation museum for museum buff while sporting events take place at either of the city’s two main stadiums. The city is a leisurely two-hour drive away from Barcelona, Spain’s cultural capital.other spellings: perpignanhotels center, perpignan city otel, hotell in perpignan city, perpinan hote
