Introduction to Paris - Place d’italie
The Place d’italie lies at the heart of the 13th arrondissement and is a major meeting point for roads, metro lines and bus routes. In a city where accommodation can be expensive, Place d’italie hotels offer good value, being situated well away from the more traditional tourist districts. Easy access to the excellent public transport system puts all of the city's best known attractions within easy reach. There are some decent shopping amenities right on the square, in the form of the Italie 2 shopping complex. This modern facility features more than 130 shops as well as a well-known department store. There is plenty of evening entertainment nearby, including renowned cinemas and top-class restaurants on Avenue des Gobelins. The district offers easy access to the brand-new National Library of France, just two kilometres away on the banks of the River Seine. Around 500m southwest of the square, La Butte aux Cailes is a hillside sub-district that is home to atmospheric streets and is a good spot for lunch or dinner.Visit our Paris Travel Guide
