Completed in 1987, Parc de la Villette has become one of the most popular parks in Paris, among both local residents and visiting tourists. It is well known for hosting a number of cultural activities, including an annual open-air film festival. Otherwise, its 10 themed gardens are among other good reasons to visit. Each of these gardens serves a different purpose. For example, the Garden of the Dragon, with its huge slide, caters to children, while others aim to provide space for relaxation. However, the park’s overall unconventional layout was designed to encourage interaction and creativity rather than more individual pursuits. The park is easy to navigate thanks to its 35 recognisable follies, some of which now house information centres and eateries. Travellers can reach Parc de la Villette hotels by taking Paris metro lines 5 or 7, alighting at Porte de la Villette, Porte de Pantin or Corentin Cariou. These accommodations offer easy access to Europe’s biggest science museum, the Cite des Sciences et de l’Industrie.
