Introduction to Paris - Boulogne Billancourt
South of the huge green space of Bois de Boulogne, the western Parisian suburb of Boulogne Billancourt offers an excellent location from which visitors can enjoy trips to central Paris as well as the horse-racing attractions to the north and other large parks in the region. Hotels in Boulogne Billancourt stand close to the Longchamp and Auteuil horse-racing courses, which sit in the north of the district. The courses lie within the 854 hectares of the Bois de Boulogne parkland. The children’s amusement area of Jardin d’Acclimatation, which offers 20 hectares of amusement park, a small zoo and the Exploradome science museum. The area contains many metro stations, with access to public transport never more than a few minutes away on foot. The E5 Peripherique is virtually on the door step, making it easy to drive to other parts of the city. The Seine flows around the area and the banks of this romantic waterway offer plenty of scenic walks. The Albert Kahn garden and museum, which sit by the Seine to the west, are important national monuments.
