Sacre Coeur, the popular Roman Catholic Basilica is a stunning sight whatever time you visit, but it is particularly popular at night where people gather to listen to buskers and enjoy some splendid views of the city. Construction of the church began in 1884 after a competition among many architects, which was won by Paul Abadie. The church’s striking white colour is a result of the travertine stone construction and there are both Byzantine and Romano styles evident here.
