Orleans is the principle city of the Centre-Val de Loire region located about 75 miles from Paris. No matter which of the hotels in Orleans you opt for you’ll find it hard to escape from anything related to Joan of Arc. Her former house is open to the public but the main attractions of Orleans are the cathedral that dominates the skyline and the medieval old centre of the city. Some of the better hotels in Orleans are situated close to the Loire River and there are many good walks available along its banks. A good but busy time to visit Orleans is the first week in May when the city is one big celebration in honour of Joan of Arc. Festivities include a light show, parades and a medieval market. Orleans hotels make a fine base for seeing the splendour of the Loire valley with its fine houses and castles.
