The ancient port city of Nice is one of France’s most visited tourist destinations because of its stunning Promenade des Anglais waterfront, its historic old quarter, and its mild French Riviera climate. Some Nice hotels are located within walking distance of the city’s airport, while others are situated closer to the city’s old quarter, approximately seven kilometres from the airport. The city’s old port is filled with buildings painted red with traditional shutters and dating back to the 18th century as well as the impressive church of Notre Dame du Port. Another historic landmark is the 16th century fort of Mont Alban, and of course, no visit to Nice would be complete without strolling along the six kilometres of the Promenade des Anglais. This scenic promenade has been located next to Nice’s Mediterranean coastline for nearly two centuries and contains several bright blue chairs where visitors can stop, take breaks and admire the stunning views of the sea.
