The Mercure Rennes Centre Gare Hotel is 5 minutes’ walk from the city’s main train station and nearly opposite the Charles de Gaulle metro stop, which offers easy access to other parts of the city. Many travellers get here by TGV from Paris, but there is a large underground car park next to the hotel for those with their own vehicles. Shoppers are also well catered for by the big shopping centre next door. Despite the central location, noise never seems to be a problem. Onsite facilities include a popular café, Boutique M, (24 hours a day), as well as a comfortable bar, L’Excalibur (Monday to Thursday evenings). The recently renovated standard rooms are more than adequate, but privilege rooms provide that touch of class, including extras such as bathrobes, soft drinks and wireless internet.
