Introduction to Lyon - Gare de Lyon Perrache
Lyon is in the Rhone-Alpes and offers visitors a chance to experience the local French lifestyle. The Renaissance architecture that is prominent throughout the city is another drawcard. A number of Lyon hotels in the old quarter, located on the River Saone’s right bank, not far from Lyon Gare de Lyon Perrache station, are particularly stunning places to stay and many boast Renaissance architectural features. The narrow streets around the station make it feel like you’ve stepped back in time. There are also a number of top attractions located in this part of town, in about a half kilometre radius of the station, such as St Jean Cathedral, the Abbey of St Martin d’Aincuy and several museums. In the streets surrounding the station are many restaurants, cafes and bars, and pubs and clubs to suit all tastes. The station itself dates from 1855 and is built in the classical style. Though it is no longer the main railway station, it receives TGV services from Paris and trains from other areas of France. There is a metro station here, and two of Lyon’s trams terminate here.Visit our Lyon Travel Guide
