Introduction to L’Isle en Dodon, France
Located in southwest France, close to the border with Spain, the quaint town of L'Isle-en Dodon offers a mix of history, culture and culinary experiences amid beautiful rolling countryside, with the snow-topped Pyrenees in the distance. Centuries ago, the castle at the heart of the town was part of a string of regional defences. Today, the town is very relaxed, with little happening apart from the regular influx of tourists. Saturday mornings see people flock to the market, an ideal spot for enjoying local life and delicacies like foie gras and cepes mushrooms. The town also has many shops offering tasty baked goods, fruits and vegetables. There are also plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants. The medieval town's mix of impressive architecture lining wandering lanes is easy to tour on foot from hotels in L'Isle-en Dodon. Some say Wellington once stayed at the fortified church, which dates from the 14th century and is today a key attraction. The Town Hall is an interesting building flanked by a pair of 19th-century market halls. Chapelle Saint-Roch sits on a Roman burial site. The closest railway station, at St Gaudens, is about an hour away. Toulouse Airport is about 70 minutes away by car.other spellings: l’Isle-en dodonhotels, lIsle-en dodon otel, l’Isleen lodon hotell, l Isle en dodom hotle
