Introduction to Jugon les Lacs, France
The northwest French town of Jugon les Lacs received its name from the two lakes which border the town on two sides. The lake south of the town is also named Jugon, while the lake north of the town is called Lac de l'Arguenon. Two rivers named Arguenon and Rosette also cross the town, so none of the Jugon les Lacs hotels are located very far from water. This community may now be a calm and tranquil place, but it was once a heavily guarded town which played an important part in Brittany's regional history. Stained-glass windows add colour to the local church, and a medieval staging inn remains standing. Fishing is such an important tourist attraction here that visitors can even take courses on the subject at Maison de la Peche. Even the local celebrations are called festilacs, a term which combines the French words for 'festival' and 'lake'. From frequent arts and craft fairs to free summer outdoor barbeques and concerts, to the annual Christmas market, visitors will find reasons to celebrate no matter when they visit this lively town.
