Introduction to French Pyrenees - Bagneres de Luchon
One of France's most popular spa towns is Bagneres de Luchon, a lovely little place filled with natural attractions located deep inside the French Pyrenees. This is French spa living without the pomp or fuss. The village's main street, allee d'Etigney, is lined with fun and interesting shops, cafes and bars catering to the crowds of nature lovers and health seekers who come to Bagneres de Luchon. There aren't many cultural attractions here save the Musee du Pays de Luchon, which highlights the local culture and history of the Pyrenees. Some 19th century baths are another popular attraction for sightseeing, but most visitors come to be outdoors. In the summer, the surrounding mountains have excellent hiking and biking trails, while winter brings skiers to the nearby ski resorts of Peyragudes and Superbagneres. Plenty of Bagneres de Luchon hotels can be found in the heart of town, providing perfect access to the main street and many of the trailheads right on the edge of the village.
