Located in the northwest of France in the department of Indre et Loire, Courcelles de Touraine is a small town of about 400 people, featuring a number of historic buildings. Despite its small stature, the town and its residents in 2000 claimed the record for the world's longest table, seating some 7,200 people or equivalent to 13 times the local population for what was one of the largest gatherings Courcelles de Touraine has ever witnessed. Aside from its record-breaking abilities, the town offers a number of historic sites including Saint Barthelemy Church dating back close to 1,000 years with its ornate windows, and then there's the 15th century Chateau des Sept Tours, which was once the resting place of the French painter Constant Troyon during the mid-19th century. Courcelles de Touraine hotels are in short supply given the small size of the town although there are a handful of mostly high-end options on La Sautas Road.
