Contrexeville is a town located in northeastern France in the department of Vosges, lying within easy driving distance of both Germany and Switzerland further east. It's a town famous for its natural springs which produce water with high traces of calcium and magnesium, considered to be good for a number of ailments, a notion which has spawned a whole health industry here including saunas, baths and spas, with one centre with thermal water renovated from an original building 100 years old. These baths are decked out in marble with elegant open spaces devoted to relaxation and rejuvenation that attract hordes of tourists. Both Nestle and Perrier operate bottling centres here for their high-selling water brands that are famous worldwide. Vittel, the name of the Nestle brand, is a town located just east.
