Introduction to Compiegne, France
The French city of Compiegne is located on the River Oise in the north of the country. Compiegne is about 80kms north of Paris. The former royal palace, Chateau de Compiegne, is the city’s most famous landmark. Some of the best Compiegne hotels are located in the streets leading from the chateau down to the river. More Compiegne hotels are situated across the river on Quai Republique. Some Compiegne hotels are operated by leading international hoteliers with others locally managed. There are also bed and breakfasts scattered around the city. The main tourist attraction in Compiegne is the chateau. The chateau is a magnificent stately building, open to the public, containing the royal apartments, an empire museum and the National Car Museum. Compiegne Forest is close to Compiegne and was the scene of the signing of two different war treaties. Several memorials in the forest commemorate this. There are a few more Compiegne hotels close to the forest on the outskirts of the city, with convenient access from the N31 National Highway.other spellings: hotelcompiegne, compigne otel, compiegn hote, hotell in compeigne, compiene hotes
