Known for its exquisite wine, Black Forest cake and stunning mountainous scenery, the village of Rouffach is an excellent place for a holiday filled with these things. Found in the Alsace region of France, this area is famous for its Alsatian Vineyard Route, which consists of a total of 67 medieval villages and towns as well as the city of Colmar. Rouffach is an excellent place to use as a base for exploring the region but it also has a few great attractions of its own. Beautiful Romanesque architecture can be seen throughout the village and the Notre-Dame de l'Assomption Church is one of the best examples of this style of building. The Castle of Isenbourg is not to be missed, although it is now a reproduction and houses one of the best of all Rouffach hotels. Wine is a major draw here and a tour along the Alsatian Vineyard Route should not be left off any itinerary.
