Chinon is a small town, in central France, on the River Vienne’s banks near where the river merges with the River Loire. Chinon’s dominant feature is the ruins of its 800-year-old castle (Ch teau de Chinon). Several Chinon hotels are located in the ancient streets between the castle and the river banks. A further choice of Chinon hotels are located west of the castle on Quai Jeanne d’ Arc, overlooking the river. Many of the Chinon hotels are in refurbished historic buildings that add a sense of tradition to a guest’s stay. Chinon Castle is a sprawling mass of structures on a small hill above the town. Several of the castle’s buildings, including the Tour du Moulin and the Tour de Coudray (castle keep), are intact. The castle offers stunning views of the mediaeval town, the stone bridge spanning the river and the Vienne Valley. Outside Chinon other accommodation choices are camp sites, farm stays and a few more Chinon hotels.
