Lying in the northwest of France in the department of Maine et Loire, Chenehutte is the combination of two small towns that lie on the banks of the Loire River. Despite its small stature, the town is a tourism heavyweight given its UNESCO affiliation and status as part of the Loire Anjou Regional Natural Park. Notre Dame Church is an impressive relic here that dates back nearly 1,000 years, with a tower that looks out over the town and the surrounding area. Just as old and striking is Saint Aubin Church, located nearby and in similarly good condition despite its age. Saint Maxenceul Church is not so well preserved and was hit by a hurricane in the mid-18th century, leaving ruins in the form of some of the walls and archways of the original structure. Chenehutte hotels are almost all located on the banks of the Loire, with great views out across the river.
