Introduction to Chambery, France

Situated to the south of Lac du Bourget, the fabulous town of Chambery has it all, mountains, lakes, rolling countryside and a quaint town centre that is the epitome of France itself. Gothic and Baroque architecture adds depth to the town’s centre, which has a central square and is the perfect place to grab a coffee and relax in an afternoon. Hotels in Chambery are located all around the town, with many to the southwest, for easy access to the French Alps for skiing. Chambery hotels are popular the whole year round and the Tour de France bicycle competition races through the streets every July. Many of the restaurants and food inside hotels in Chambery only have local items on their menus as they pride themselves on the quality of the wine and produce from the area. Tourists are also drawn to the Cathedral de Chambery and Croix du Nivolet, which are the town’s most dominating buildings and are well worth a visit.
