Right in the southeast of France on the Cote d'Azur, close to the border with Italy, Cap D'Ail is a seaside resort with good beaches that remains mostly untouched by the tourism boom that has engulfed much of the surrounding areas in recent decades. Most of the town is made up of smart residential areas that serve as a commuter base for the nearby larger urban areas of Nice and Monaco, and in return many people come from both places to hit the beaches at Cap D'Ail, including idyllic La Mala. The town is therefore located very close to Italy, Monaco, Nice and the Alps, making it a prime base for tourists that want to get away from the hustle and bustle of larger towns and cities in the area. Cap D'Ail hotels, most of which are located in and around the seafront, are fairly numerous despite the town's small population.
