Introduction to Caen - City Centre
Caen is a historical city in the north-west of France. It is most famous for its buildings that were constructed during the time of William the Conqueror. The picturesque Orne River runs through Caen, and many visitors choose to stay in Caen hotels that are located along near the river. The overwhelming majority of hotels in Caen are found in the city centre. Some of the most expensive Caen hotels are specifically located in the Place de la Republique, which is a magnificent square in the heart of Caen. Rue Bernieres is a nice place to find Caen hotels along the Orne River. However, this area is just outside of the city centre. Nevertheless, it is still a popular place to stay given its riverside location and it is still easy to get to the centre of town. Some of the best mid-range hotels in Caen are found around the interesting Musee de Normandie de Caen, which houses some great historical displays and exhibitions. Caen’s Qaui de Vendeuvre is a popular place to find restaurants, cafes, and sophisticated bars.
