Introduction to Cabourg, France
Right in the middle of France's long northern coast on the English Channel, Cabourg lies in the department of Calvados, within France's Basse-Normandie region. The town is a favourite beach retreat in summer for those living with Paris, not far to the south, including famous French novelist Marcel Proust, who used to visit the town regularly at the start of the 20th century and it was even the scene of parts of his book Remembrance of Past Things. Other cultural highlights here include the hugely popular International Festival of Romantic Films which takes place every year in June. The real highlight here is undoubtedly the seaside, with its wide expanse of sand that reaches out to the chilly waters of the English Channel, and the even longer promenade, which is a favourite of holidaymakers here during the summer for long evening strolls. Cabourg hotels are mostly located along this beachfront, often with good views of the water.other spellings: cabourghotels, carbourg otel, caburg hotell, caborg hote, caboerg hotles
