Situated in the Ile-de-France region, close to Paris, Bures Sur Yvette is a university town that is home to the Orsay Campus of Paris University XI as well as the Higher Education Institute of Sciences. The town itself is small but offers numerous activities centred around university life. It has good access to the capital, which is easily accessible in just half an hour by car via the N118 road or by train on RER Line B, which connects with key stations including Gare du Nord in the centre and the main airport, Charles de Gaulle. Historic buildings in the town include the striking but simple Church of St Mathew in the very centre.
