Brest is an important port in Brittany, north-west France. Brest is on the River Penfield and Brest Bay. Brest Bay is linked to the Atlantic Ocean by a narrow channel. A good selection of Brest hotels is located on, and in the vicinity of, Square de la Tour d’Auvergne, near the port. These Brest hotels offer views of the city’s most famous landmark, the imposing Brest Castle (Chteau de Brest) next to the River Penfield. Some of the castle’s structures date from Roman times. Other sights in Brest are the Tour Tanguy (a medieval tower), the Pont de Recouvrance (a bridge across the River Penfield) and Saint-Malo Street. Brest itself does not have many attractions as they were destroyed in WWII. Brest hotels offer a convenient base to visit attractions nearby. Brest is close to stunning countryside, fine beaches, caves and soaring cliffs. Brest’s beaches offer swimming, windsurfing and sailing. Hotels in Brest range from budget to four-stars.
