Introduction to Bourges, France
Right in the centre of France in the department of Cher, Bourges is a city rich in history that dates back to earlier than the Roman era. It's a well-connected city less than two hours by train from Paris, with its own airport that lies on the A71 motorway. The main tourist attraction here is undoubtedly the 800-year-old cathedral of St Etienne, a UNESCO World Heritage site, all in French Gothic with original stained-glass and towers that jut up into the Bourges skyline. For an extra charge, visitors can gain access to the crypt. Another major attraction here is the extravagant Palais de Jacques Coeur, built by the eponymous banker of the same name, once the richest man in the whole of France during the 15th century. Bourges hotels are mostly located right in the heart of the city and further out on the N151, where it joins the main motorway. other spellings: bourgeshotels, beurges otel, bourgest hotell, bourgest hote, bouges hotes
