Introduction to Beziers, France
The beautiful town of Beziers in the southeast of France is steeped in history. It has many historical buildings, some dating back to Roman times. These include a 1st century Roman amphitheatre. The countryside just outside of the town has many vineyards, olive groves and wine tasting opportunities, and Beziers is considered to be the capital of winemaking in the south of France. Saint-Nazaire Cathedral looms over the town and dates back to the 13th century, and is well worth a visit. The architectural style of this beautiful building is Gothic. There is also an art gallery at the cathedral with many paintings and Greek ceramics. The old town is a wonderful place with winding lanes, Roman churches and other buildings. The famous Canal du Midi runs through Beziers, and it is possible for visitors to do a canal trip. There is a great selection of Beziers hotels in the town and many French restaurants as well the Fine Arts Museum which houses a work by van Gogh. The old town is a wonderful area to stay in with excellent restaurants, cafes and bars with live music. August is the busiest time of year, when the Feria de Beziers bullfighting event takes place. other spellings: bezierhotels, bezeil otel, bezeir hotell, beziel hote, beziers hotes, beziesr hotle
