In the geographical centre of France is the small town of Bazaiges, a quiet hamlet in the middle of the Loire Valley. With only a couple hundred residents in town, there are very few amenities here like restaurants and shops. There are, however, a few hotels in Bazaiges on the outskirts of town that make great bases for exploring the Loire Valley. Most of these establishments are incredibly charming inns and historic country homes that are destinations in themselves. Besides soaking in the pastoral atmosphere of Bazaiges and the surrounding countryside, visitors can check out Les Loups de Chabrieres, a popular wildlife park, or the Museum of Jean Giraudoux that is dedicated to the famous French writer and playwright. There are lots of outdoor recreation activities around Bazaiges in the warm months, including biking paths, hiking trails and rivers to go boating on.
