By air: the most hassle-free way to get to Tampere from other countries is by air. Tampere boasts its own airport, Tampere-Pirkkala Airport, situated 17kms away from the city. The airport receives a number of flights from European destinations and other major Finnish cities. There are bus services to take you to the city centre while taxis are aplenty in front of the terminal, providing a quick 20-minute ride to the centre.

By rail: thanks to reliable and extensive rail network, getting to Tampere by train is very convenient. Trains link Tampere to Helsinki, Turku, Lapland, Jyvaskyla and Pori. The journey takes about one hour from Helsinki.
